Heather Jacks's introduction to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence was serendipitous and took place over a couple of decades. In Part 1, we learned of Heather's time with the Christian fundamentalist church in Sacramento. It turns out the Sisters protested Easter service in the capital city during Heather's time there. Fast-forward to this decade: Now back living in the city again, she learned of the amazing charity work that the drag nun group does, and was hooked. In this podcast, Heather explains the inspiration behind her art book that celebrates 40 years of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. In March and April, you'll hear more about the Sisters directly from three nuns. We recorded this podcast at Heritage Restaurant and Bar in February 2019.

Heather's unique perspective and ability explore and share stories of individuals who are not mainstream, who fight for their own independence and leave their own lasting impression is a gift. I love that Heather undertook this journey and is producing a piece of work that also sheds light on an important segment of San Francisco's history.

Loved part 2. How lucky that Heather Jacks dropped into San Francisco. I have followed the Sisters for 20 years but since I’ve met Heather I know so much more. I could not think of a better writer to do this book and put her own perspective on how wonderful And joyful The Sisters really are. And I am so thankful to be a small part of her tribe.
