Make It Mariko’s “Love Thy City” Event Recap

Dude, that was a fucking rad party!

In the evening of Tuesday (yes, Tuesday), March 3, 2026 at The Foundry SF on Folsom Street in South of Market, folks from all over San Francisco’s creative scene gathered to mingle, eat, drink, laugh, dance, love, and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Make It Mariko, the events company Gina Mariko Rosales founded. And oh boy, was it a time! I’m writing this recap two days removed, and it’s still hitting in the best ways.

Gina is a freakin’ force of nature, y’all. I first learned about her probably the second year I went to Undscvrd, the annual Filipino festival in SOMA. Then she came into clearer focus for me when I attended the POC Food and Wine Festival in 2024. I really don’t think there’s ever been a Bay Area event that put such a spotlight on an incredibly diverse group of talented chefs and winemakers. And now that I’m starting to get a better idea of the creative entity behind it all (Make It Mariko), it makes total sense that POC Food and Wine was also a lot of damn fun.

In a nutshell: Gina knows how to throw a party, and community is always at the center of it.

Ed. note: I’m in the scheduling phase of doing an episode with Gina. Should happen this spring. Stay tuned.
