Holly DeVille has been a drag queen in San Francisco since the early 2000s. She got her start on Billy Priest's birthday at Aunt Charlie's. After becoming a regular performer there, she moved over in the Tenderloin to Deco Lounge, the spot that is now Emperor Norton's Boozeland. In this episode of Storied: San Francisco, Billy Priest describes what it was like getting started doing drag in San Francisco. These days, Billy would like to ramp up his private ESL tutoring clientele. If you or someone you know is in need, email him at [email protected]. His Twitter is @billypriest. Queens in the Attic, a quarterly drag show at Boozeland, is this Saturday, Dec. 16, at 9 p.m. More information can be found here (Facebook event page). Here's video of Holly DeVille performing Moloko's "Fun for Me" (the song he mentions in the podcast) at Deco Lounge 2009.
We recorded this podcast at Emperor Norton's Boozeland in October 2017.
